SmartDeviceLink (SDL) is an Open Source technology is being developed by Ford Motor Company and released to Genivi infrastructure. This project is an evolution of AppLink – a solution already used in many Ford vehicles to connect smartphone apps with car’s infotainment system. SDL goal is to create a standard that will be adopted by many OEMs as primary way to add smartphone apps to their systems.

SmartDeviceLink in Genivi already consolidate other projects around it. iviLink, another open source connectivity solution, is now merged into SmartDeviceLink in favor of having one technology that all can support.

The purpose of the speech is to present SmartDeviceLink to the audience, give insight on the project status, correlation with Genivi organization, current development phase and how everybody can benefit from (or contribute to) this technology.
