It is clear the technology for driverless cars is developing rapidly and could become a reality for consumers within the next decade. The economic, social, security and privacy impact of autonomous vehicles would be far-reaching. Does the FOSS community have a leadership role to play in shaping its development? Are autonomous cars even consistent with the values and principles of the FOSS community or are they a potential tool for restricting individual freedom?
